Number One.

Our society has inevitably evolved. Teenagers now spend their entire existence in creating their own personalised 'social profile'; and I am most definitely one of them. My parents cannot begin to fathom as to why I could ever want to put my entire life on websites such as Facebook, and they stress the danger of doing so. However in a heated debate with my father - a very good friend philosophised the idea of 'social networking' and directly connects it with the idea of 'vanity'. She believed that Facebook exists as a tool for people to re-create their persona in order to accommodate to what they believe is to be socially acceptable, they are able to create a confidence which they fail to show in public. People shape their 'wall posts', 'photos' and 'videos' on their profiles in accordance to how they want to be seen, but is that vanity? Of course. I will put up photos of myself, because I look good. So, it is this opinion in which I take to mind when I write and I will push myself to condemn these conventional appearances. As cheesy as this sounds; a good writer shouldn't focus on tailoring yourself to public opinion but writing to inform and writing truth. This is every intention of mine to eventually become a good writer and to cause controversy. I am aware that anyone of the public will be able to access my thoughts and views and viciously scrutinise them to the very bone! But that is the beauty of freedom of speech, and I will accept any criticisms that will be thrown my way.
